Discord Nitro gives you cool features like bigger file uploads, more emojis, HD video streaming, and profile customization. Normally, it costs $99.99 a year or $9.99 a month, but there are some legit ways to get Discord Nitro for free. Here’s how.
1. Check for Free Trials
Discord sometimes offers free Nitro for first-time subscribers. The offer is generally for two weeks or one month. You can cancel before your trial period ends to avoid charges. Keep in mind, that this offer isn’t always available. To check, open Discord, go to User Settings, then Nitro, and subscribe. Before purchasing a plan, you can check whether you have the free trial offer available.
2. Mine Nitro With Salad
Salad is a application that uses your computer as a part of community powered cloud network. In simple words, your PC’s hardware will be used for computing projects for companies and you will get paid on behalf of that. Just leave the application open and running when you are not using your PC. The more powerful your computer, the more you can earn. You can then use your earnings to get Amazon gift cards, in-game currencies, and even Discord Nitro. However, the app only works on Windows, and not on macOS or Linux. Check out Salad’s support page to learn how to get started.

3. Nitro Giveaways
Many Discord servers host Nitro giveaways. Join these servers and participate in the giveaways for a chance to win. Some good servers to try are Open Advertisements and Self-promotion Central. Note that, that winning giveaway isn’t guaranteed.
4. Take Advantage of Promotions
Sometimes, companies offer free Discord Nitro as part of promotions. For instance, Epic Games gave free Nitro to subscribers. Right now, if you buy Discord Nitro for $10, you can get YouTube Premium free for 3 months (worth $33). Note that these offers might only be available in certain countries for specific time. To know the currently available promotion offer, check out this Discord page.
5. Keep an Eye on Referral Programs
Discord also offers referral programs with free Nitro. Though Discord does not run a referral program all the time, they run it often. You can refer by sharing any server with your friends and if your friends create the Discord account with your link, then you will get the Nitro as a referral bonus. However, there’s no way to check whether Discrord currently runs the referral program or not. Just refer to more friends when you get the referral bonus.
6. Download Discord Mobile App
Discord offers a free month of Nitro when you download their mobile app. But there is a catch. This only works if your account has never had Nitro before and you haven’t installed the Discord app on your phone. Essentially, it’s for first-time users.
When you download and open the app, you’ll see a pop-up to claim your free Nitro. You will need to enter payment information, but you won’t be charged. Nitro isn’t a subscription, so there’s no need to worry about canceling later.

7. Participate in Events
Discord often hosts events with Nitro prizes. For example, during anniversaries or Christmas, they might give out free Nitro along with other goodies like gaming gear. These events normally give out a lot of free stuff like Xbox, PlayStation, Keyboards, Headsets, Game Licenses, etc. along with the Nitro. While the chances of winning a gift are slim, there’s no harm in trying out.
8. Engage in Certain Discord Servers
Some servers reward active members with Nitro. By chatting and leveling up, you can earn points that might get you free Nitro. Servers like Planet Roonie offer Nitro to their most active members.
