And Just Like That…the Sex and the City spin-off is returning for another season. Fans (like myself) of Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and company will be happy to know And Just That was confirmed for season three back in August 2023.
Following the news, AJLT executive producerMichael Patrick Kingreleased a statement where he explained that renewing AJLT was a no-brainer. “We are thrilled to spend more time in the Sex and the City universe telling new stories about the lives of these relatable and aspirational characters played by these amazing actors,” he said. “And Just Like That… here comes season three.”
Sadly, Max recently announced that season three won’t premiere until 2025. But on the upside,Sarah Jessica Parker has confirmed that production for season three is officially underway. To hold you over though, here’s everything I know about And Just Like That season three, from the plot to the cast to fan theories.
1. What Is And Just Like That About?
Serving as a spinoff to the popular HBO series Sex and the City, the main plot for And Just Like That centers aroundCarrie(Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) as they navigate life in their 50s.
In the first season, our favorite girlfriends reunited almost a decade after the events that happened in Sex and the City 2(remember the second movie?!).It focused largely on Carrie’s grief following the death of her husband, Big (Chris Noth).Meanwhile, the second season was all aboutnewrelationships and the return of some familiar faces. Fans watched Carrie rekindle her relationship with Aidan (John Corbett)and they gotabrief cameofrom Samantha (Kim Cattrall).
While sitting down with Access Hollywood earlier this summer, Parker explained why she wanted Cattrall to come back in season two. (For context: Samantha and Carrie only communicatedthroughtextsand phone calls before the season two finale.)
Parker said, “It was a nice opportunity, given the 25 years, to have that text turn into a face. [Though] it’s just a quick phone call, it’s really nice and it’s a sentimental moment in the story for Carrie. [And] it’s just one more example of how much that friendship has meant, and continues to mean, to Carrie.”

2. When Was And Just Like That Season Three Announced?
Back in August 2023,Max(formerly HBO Max) revealed thatAnd Just Like Thathad been renewed for season three. (FYI, The announcement came just two days before theseason two finaleairedon August 24.)
I’m not surprised that And Just Like That snagged a season three renewal. In a statement, Sarah Aubrey (head of original content at Max) revealed that it’s one of the network’s most successful shows. “We are delighted to share that since the launch of season two,And Just Like That..ranks as the #1 Max Original overall, and is the most-watched returning Max Original to date,” she said.
Aubrey continued, “As we approach the highly anticipated season finale on Thursday, we raise our cosmos to Michael Patrick King and his magnificent team of writers, producers, cast and crew who continue to charm us, 25 years later, with dynamic friendships and engaging stories. We cannot wait for audiences to see where season three will take our favorite New Yorkers.”
3. Is There a Release Date for And Just Like That Season Three?
There is still no news regarding the release date for And Just Like That season three. However, Max previously released a “One to Watch” promo that confirmed the third installment of AJLT will return sometime in 2025.
4. How About a Trailer?
While there isn't a season three trailer yet, you can of course take a look back at the season two trailer (above) for reminders of some of your favorite moments from the sophomore season.

HBO hasn’t revealed any further details about her character, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she fills the comedic void of Che (Sara Ramirez), who won’t appear in the new installment.
