How to Use and Configure Voice Chat
3 Ways to Use Voice Chat
In-Game VC | You can use it to call someone even if they're not friends. |
---|---|
PS5 Built-in VC | Can be used if the other party is a PSN friend. |
Discord | You can use to talk between PS5 and PC |
These are the ways you can use voice chat in Monster Hunter Wilds. Use the in-game VC, the PS5 built-in VC, or Discord. Choose the voice chat to use depending on the person you are calling.
How to Set Up the Voice Chat
- Turn On Voice Chat
- Volume and Auto-switching Settings
- Switch Voice Chat If Necessary
Turn ON Voice Chat
Turn on "Voice chat Settings" in the "Audio" option in the game. For the PC Version, by selecting "Push to Talk", voice chat will be enabled only while the designated key is pressed.
Volume and Auto-switching Settings
You can set the volume with "Voice chat volume" and the automatic switching of outgoing voice chats with "Voice chat automatic switching settings". Turning it OFF will prevent accidents where you send voice chats unintentionally.
Switch Voice Chat If Necessary
Press the touchpad and options button at the same time to open the voice chat screen. You can switch between calling members participating in the same quest or link members using L3.
- Open the Game Base
- Select Start Party
- Set Up Your Party
- Start the Party
Open the Game Base
Press the home button to open the game base.
Select Start Party
When you select the headset icon, the "Start Party" button will appear, so press that.
Set Up Your Party
Open the party settings at the bottom. You can choose to have an "open party" where all your friends can join or a "private party" where invitations are required.
Start the Party
Once you've finished setting up, press "Start party" at the top of the settings screen. You can talk to players who have joined the party.
- Open the Game Base
- Select Discord and Link Your Account
- Link PS5 and Discord
- Select the Server to Use
Open the Game Base
Press the home button to open the Game Base.
Select Discord and Link Your Account
Hover over the Discord Icon and press "Link Account".
Link PS5 and Discord
Click the link to display a QR code that can be used for linking. Click "Use Browser" at the bottom right of the screen to log in to Discord. If you can log in, the linking is complete.
Select the Server to Use
Once the connection is complete, select the game-based Discord icon again and enter the server you want to join. You can't create a server on the PS5, so create one on your smartphone or PC.
When Voice Chat is Not Working
Check if Voice Chat is Enabled
Check that "Voice chat settings" is ON in the "Audio" options in the game, and that "Voice chat volume" is not set to 0.
Switching Voice Chat
There are two types of in-game VC: quest members and link members. If the one you want to talk to is not enabled, switch it using L3.
Check the Input/Output Device Settings
Click the gear icon at the top right of the PS5 home screen to open "Sound". If your headset or other device is not authenticated as an input or output device under the "Microphone" and "Audio output", try reinserting it.
Check Your Party Settings
Press the home button on your PS5 to open Game Base. Hover over the headset icon and press the three dots. Check that your Audio Balance is not too far to the left of the game sound and that Mute All is disabled.
Check the Input/Output Device Settings
Click the gear icon at the upper right corner of the PS5 home screen to open "Sound". If your headset or other device is not authorized as an input or output device in the "Microphone" and "Audio output" categories, try reinserting it.
Check Your Discord Voice Chat Settings
Check and make sure that the "Mute all" on the Discord voice chat screen is not enabled, and that the "Audio balance" to the left of it is not too close towards the game sound.
Check Sound Setting When Using a Controller
If you are using a controller and suddenly can't hear anything, check your sound settings. Go from Windows → Settings → Sound to check if the output and input settings are set to the controller. Sometimes the problem can be solved by changing it back.
Disable It From the Control Panel
In the case above, your controller may be set as the default device in the sound control panel. By disabling it in advance, you can prevent it from happening again.
Check the Input/Output Device Settings
Click the gear icon at the top right of the PS5 home screen to open "Sound". If your headset or other device is not authenticated as an input or output device in the "Microphone" and "Audio output" categories, try reinserting it.
